HEALING PRAYER IS GOD’S IDEA
I love people! I get excited as I look forward to meeting new people. I am encouraged in my own Christian walk in mentoring young ministers.
A few years ago I received an email from a young Canadian minister, asking me to review and write an endorsement, maybe an introduction, for a book on prayer which he had written. I get a lot of similar requests, but there was something here that attracted me—the boldness, the obvious spiritual sensitivity, the humility in the way he expressed himself and made his “plea.”
I’m happy I followed my heart. I said yes, and a meaningful relationship, all guided by the Holy Spirit, has developed. The climax of it all is that he, David Chotka, and I have co-written a book, HEALING PRAYER, God’s idea for Restoring Body, Mind. and Spirit.
I am convinced that my book, The Workbook of Living Prayer, is my greatest contribution to the Church and the Christian movement. The book grew out of my own deep personal need. Many books have grown out of my ongoing struggle to pray effectively and live a prayerful life, including The Workbook on Intercessory Prayer and The Workbook on Becoming Alive in Christ.
In many ways, HEALING PRAYER, God’s idea for Restoring Body, Mind. and Spirit is an honest and bold climax to my prayer journey. My co-author, Dr. David Chotka, and I are both committed to healing. He is a brilliant, wholesome, charismatic who has experienced many instant healings so I had some reservations about partnering with him in writing the book. In the first chapter of the book, we discuss how I overcame that reservation and sound our conviction that healing prayer is God’s idea.
Even a casual reading of the Gospel makes it clear that the ministry of Jesus, especially His ministry of prayer for healing, was a ministry of physical, mental, and emotional restoration that continues through ordinary people like you and me. Our book is about how praying for healing should be a common practice for every believer in every branch of the Lord’s church.
Sadly, in many sections of the church across the earth, it is not. People are hungry to see the power of the Holy Spirit working in ways so evident in the New Testament, but also, now. When Jesus’ followers trust him and accept his invitation to join with him in ministry, healing prayer can be a daily reality. Our book will not only inspire you, it will teach and equip you to proclaim and practice healing prayer.
